Kentaro Miura was a Japanese manga artist. He was best known for his acclaimed dark fantasy series Berserk, which began serialization in 1989 and continued until his death. As of 2021, Berserk had more than 50 million copies in circulation, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. In 2002, Miura received the Award for Excellence at the 6th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes.

What is Manga?

Manga is a term for comic books or graphic novels originally produced from Japan. They are almost always published in black and white color scheme, only some special editions are printed in full-color, but this is very rare. Manga is read from right to left, which is completely oposite to English publications. Most manga are long-running series and the story unfolds chronologically, so the best jumping point for a new reader is always in issue 1.
